First time meeting Matt, Brian, and Sarah

About five years ago, I got to know Matt and Brian at the Big-O Software forums, due to the then-awesome AIM addon, AIM+. Last night, we finally met in person.

Matt, who’s from Georgia Tech, was out here in Southern California on business with a coworker for almost a whole week. Last night was the night we decided to meet up and have some dinner. The evening started off funky. The initial explanation to Matt’s coworker and his friend was that we met each other through the internet. Um, yeah.

The straight story: We got to know each other through some tech forums. We’re basically all geeks, except for Sarah (not as much), who’s currently Brian’s girlfriend. Brian has some forums now which we sporadically post in.

We met in Santa Monica, went to the Promenade, walked around, and ate at Houston’s.

All in all, they’re all pretty cool. I won’t see Matt anytime soon, but hopefully Brian and Sarah weren’t put off by my wackiness and we’ll hang out again. Not sure how else to explain it, but it’s awesome to meet people who I’ve only known through the tubes, right? I hope I do more of that kind of thing in the future. :)

Heroes is awesome!

When I got home from work tonight, I decided to catch up on the first few episodes of “Heroes“.

Three and a half hours later…

“There’s too much going on,” says my mom. Yeah, and daytime soaps don’t? We watched the first four episodes. I think my mom likes it, even though it’s complicated, but I love it. We got through four episodes! The more twisted the plot gets, the better.

I’m not sure what else to say, except that if you can catch up, you should. This is definitely an instance where I wish NBC would stream their TV shows online like ABC tried to do awhile back.

This is awesome. Thanks for linking to this, Robert!

Say something and mean it

The following happened a month ago, and it’s been typed up in my inbox, waiting to be posted.

I called Linden Optometry on the way back from work to pickup some contacts. (I haven’t gotten a new set in a long time.) I was told that they should be ready in 30 minutes, and that they’d call me back in 20 minutes.

When I got there 45 minutes later, I was told that they ran out, more were ordered today, and that they would be here either Thursday or Friday.

What happened to the phone call, which they promised 20 minutes after I called? Do I do this myself? It’s not good business. Things happen, but still.

On a positive note, they pricematch – even online prices! I got O2 Optix from them for $25/box instead of $30, because 1-800 Contacts sell them for about $22/box. They could only go as low as $25, so I was fine with that for now.

Not admissible

Please pray for me. I just checked BroncoDirect and found out my admission status: not admissible. I’ll be making phone calls tomorrow about it, and I might even drive out to Cal Poly if the need arises. I just got hit with a load of depression, but I have to have faith that God has a plan for me thru all these issues. Thanks.

Update 10/13/06 1:14PM: I called Cal Poly admissions today to get an explanation, and I was told my overall GPA was below 2.0. I thought with decent grades I got for the classes I took last year, I’d be fine. Not. I’ll be taking another semester at PCC to dig my GPA out of the metaphorical ground. I believe I can apply for the spring quarter at Cal Poly, but I’m going to talk to a counselor at PCC as soon as possible to get suggestions. Thanks for the prayers and concern.

  • One of my first prints November 5, 2009
I tried to get this scanned print as close to the real thing as possible. I cropped out the white borders since they weren’t clean. I didn’t write down how I exposed this in the enlarger – shame on me, I guess. Lastly, since this was our first assignment, our teacher hadn’t shown us contrast filters [...]

  • Sneak peek: Ginger and Joe October 27, 2009
I wanted to share a few shots from Ginger and Joe’s wedding on October 18th, 2009. Even though I wasn’t feeling 100%, I’m stoked with the images we were able to create. Oh, and a Damon D’Amato sighting!1 Actually, Damon offered to be a second shooter. It was very generous of him. Thanks! ↩
