Why the world needs Superman

I saw a 10:40pm showing of “Superman Returns” last night. Going into it, I vaguely remember the original Superman movies. I expected the modern-day special effects to make it look fantastic. (See IMDB profiles for Superman, Superman II, Superman II, and Superman IV.)

Wow. I think the casting was perfect, and each played their part really well. Brandon Routh did an awesome job of being Clark Kent/Superman, Kate Bosworth was gorgeous as Lois Lane, and Kevin Spacey played a diabolical Lex Luther. I felt power, emotion, and evil in this film.

The buildup for the action takes some patience, but it’s well worth it to see all that Superman could do. My mouth was open in awe for every action sequence.

I speculate that the people behind the movie allowed the sneak preview so we could tell our friends and help give the movie a huge boost when it officially comes out. I say, good thinking. Go see it. I doubt you’ll be disappointed.

Silas and I were supposed to meet up with other photography classmates for long exposure photos from Cow Canyon Saddle by Mt. Baldy Village1. That didn’t happen. Once we got to the turnout on Glendora Ridge Rd, we just saw a sign and a road leading into an RV park. There wasn’t a mention of Cow Canyon [...]

November 12, 2009 — A photo I took of the Rx Bandits rocking out at The Glass House (Pomona, CA). More to come, of course. Thanks to Cathy and Chase from Sargent House for the photo pass (again)! View on Flickr

I didn’t ask Bill to pose or smile. I liked his second portrait, but that wasn’t as sharp. Boo me. Reflections of myself and Bill’s dad (upper left) was deliberate. Taken inside his dad’s garage, and hopefully soon to be his recording studio. View on Flickr

Jon Swanson emailed me last Friday and asked if I wanted any color Fuji 35mm film. He didn’t tell me how many rolls he had in his possession. Most importantly, he didn’t want a dime. I asked him how much he had, but he persisted that I give him a number. I requested eight rolls of 200 film1. [...]

  • One of my first prints November 5, 2009
I tried to get this scanned print as close to the real thing as possible. I cropped out the white borders since they weren’t clean. I didn’t write down how I exposed this in the enlarger – shame on me, I guess. Lastly, since this was our first assignment, our teacher hadn’t shown us contrast filters [...]
