Be a good customer

Amen!

If you’re someone who gets easily annoyed when you go to a restaurant, try to put yourself in the worker’s place. Why is the service lame? Maybe people at another table are hogging them. Maybe there’s a holdup in the kitchen. Maybe there’s a lot of tables that worker is having to cover.

Then again, if the they’re being rude, and I haven’t done anything to deserve it, they probably have another thing coming…

Note: This was written weeks ago, I saw it in my drafts, and just felt like publishing it.

Fast food drive thru madness

Terrible drive thru

I went to get a quick bite from Kazi Foods (Taco Bell/KFC) after class. It was around 1pm. I pulled into the driveway, and it was backed up 6-7 cars. Why? Because the driveway is only one car in width. If the drive thru is behind, nobody can really get in and park right away like they’re supposed to. Terrible!

Can they please just close the drive thru? It’s slow, anyway. (I’m talking about the one on Baldwin Ave, south of Huntington Dr.) I’ll put a picture here sometime, but I just had to write about this.

Better than being bored

I’m not depressed or upset, but man, it’s going to crazy these next two days. (I’d rather write about the events afterwards, hopefully with pictures, too.) It’s better than being bored, right? I’m sure there’s people with so much time on their hands, and they’re just…bored out of their mind. I think it’s awesome that I always have something to look back at afterwards. I should never run out of things to talk about, that’s for sure – yet I can be completely solemn at times. I’m an only child, that’s my excuse.

Weekend open loops closed

I had no idea what to title this post, because I’m mashing a lot of things together (contrary to how I would normally split posts up).

Friday

I took my Film History midterm two hours before class Friday morning. :D I got 32/50 (64%), but it’s not including five short-answer questions at 2 points a piece. I should get 8 more points after those are graded, bringing me up to an 80%. We watched Jaws for class that day. It was more funny to me because Devon does impersonations of Dana Carvey (in “The Master of Disguise“) impersonating Quint.

Friday evening was hectic. Concession from 5pm until the Varsity game, then pep band until the end. We never went out that night, but I did go to Jordan’s with Devon to watch some shows he recorded at the last minute. I love DVR. Tivo is okay, I suppose. ;)

Chillin late Friday night

Saturday

I woke up sick on Saturday. Bought some Equaline Daytime Cold & Flu Relief medicine from Albertsons, then went about my day. Our Bulldog AAAs beat the Buckeyes. Close game right down to the end. I had a good break, until I had the office shift for two hours. I was able to prepare a little for my next game I needed to coach. Cal lost to Stanford. Good defense, terrible offense. Linemen barely did anything. Boys will be “sternly spoken to” tomorrow. Our defense can only do so much, and it didn’t help that we couldn’t score. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that either of our teams were able to practice this week, due to weather conditions and a parking situation on Friday. We got cancelled Friday because the director wanted to alleviate the parking issue by using our field for parking.

After the loss, I ended up at home for the rest of the evening. It felt good, and I was able to sleep more than I normally would. I definitely didn’t go out, except to get some dinner and buy Equaline Nighttime Cold & Flu Relief medicine. I did let my backpack run in the apartment washing machine overnight, right before the door was locked.

Sunday

Today was pretty busy. My backpack was clean, and dried all day. (Yay!) The women’s choir from First Mount Zion Baptist Church was here for the weekend, and they were the main attraction for today. I didn’t realize they had a website – cool! Words doesn’t do them justice. They brought so much life to our church service, and Pastor Torian brought an awesome message. Our church is a bit more conservative than theirs, so it was a dramatic change, especially with 80+ people that they brought. That pavilion was full!

Quick background (as far as I know): We’ve known this church since 1973(?), or something, and have been passing by there on our RHP summer trips ever since. Their congregation opens their homes to us while we’re there for a weekend, and we did the same this weekend. We go out there more than they come here, so to me, it’s really special to us more than it is for them.

I had lunch with some guys and a good nap in between the church service and the performance in the evening.

The performance that women’s choir put on tonight was stunning! I can’t say much more, really! I took some pictures of them from today, but they’re not great. Better than nothing, I guess. I hope they come out here more often, that’s for sure.

When I got home tonight, I uploaded all the pictures, especially from the concert on Tuesday at the Knitting Factory to see Nural (with The Higher and In Memory).

Lots to write but not worried

I wrote about the Finch concert, but not about the Nural concert I went to Tuesday night. I have pictures to upload from the Nural show. I ordered and received a new 512MB MiniSD card for my phone, but now I need a USB Data Cable and card reader, too. Last night was much less eventful, but I sort of just relaxed. I have to take an online test by tonight. I’ll be busy all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Crud.

While walking across the street from the Wiltern to the Wilshire/Western subway, this man walked between the cars asking for money. The print is pretty much how I envisioned it. Unfortunately, I’m still trying to get more detail between the man’s head and the trees in the distance. This is probably my 8th print attempt. I’m [...]

Silas and I were supposed to meet up with other photography classmates for long exposure photos from Cow Canyon Saddle by Mt. Baldy Village1. That didn’t happen. Once we got to the turnout on Glendora Ridge Rd, we just saw a sign and a road leading into an RV park. There wasn’t a mention of Cow Canyon [...]

I didn’t ask Bill to pose or smile. I liked his second portrait, but that wasn’t as sharp. Boo me. Reflections of myself and Bill’s dad (upper left) was deliberate. Taken inside his dad’s garage, and hopefully soon to be his recording studio. View on Flickr
